Welcome to the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd!

Please join us for in-person worship Sunday mornings at 9:30am. All are welcome!

We are located near the town common at 9 Park Street, next to the U.S. Post Office. Parking is available in front of the church and in the adjacent Sullivan County parking lot. Our vestry building has a handicap accessible ramp.

Our Annual Church Fair held on the Common in Newport, NH on September 21, 2024, was a lot of fun and a big success! We are very grateful for the vendors, generous donations, hardworking volunteers and talented musicians, Carl Brogan, James Grace and Joe Jennings! Many thanks to all!

Ukrainian National Anthem - Shche ne vmeria Ukrainy (Ukraine has not yet perished)

The glory and freedom of Ukraine has not yet perished.

Luck will still smile on us. brother-Ukrainians.

Our enemies will die, as the dew does in the sunshine, and we, too, brothers, we’ll live happily in our land.

We’ll not spare either our souls or bodies to get freedom, and we’ll prove that we brothers are of Kozak kin,

We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month.

Easter Sunday 2025

Pastor Elizabeth Bailey-Mitchell

*******************************************

Greetings! My name is Pastor Elizabeth Bailey-Mitchell. I have been serving United Methodist churches for 25 years and most recently the UMC in Waterville, Maine. I am married to Harbour Mitchell III. He is an archaeologist and a retired United Methodist pastor. We have five adult children and three grandchildren, three of our children live in Maine, one in Vermont, and one in Washington DC.

I completed my undergraduate work at Ripon College in Ripon Wisconsin, with an English major/Religion minor, and completed my seminary studies at Bangor Theological School, in Bangor, Maine, prior to its closure in 2013. My hobbies include sewing, reading, and baking sourdough bread.

I’m eager to get to know you and join with you in exploring how God is calling us to be in ministry to our communities and the wider world, and share the vision of our denomination, to “love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously!”
